Emily Anthony, Co-Founder and Search Consultant
Emily Anthony began her career recruiting, screening, and interviewing hundreds of volunteers for Big Sisters of King County, an experience that not only taught her useful search skills, but also how much she loved helping people find their “best fit” role. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for her entire career, originally as a caseworker with families and children, and later as a program coordinator, facilitator, and trainer. In addition, Emily has been an active volunteer and board member for many nonprofits that support educational equity and early learning, such as Rainier Scholars, Social Venture Partners, and Child Care Resources. Since 2008, Emily has brought these varied perspectives into her current work as a professional consultant to nonprofit organizations in executive search, strategic planning, and fund development.
Originally from Massachusetts, Emily graduated from Harvard College. She holds a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, and a Certificate in Human Services Management, both from the University of Washington.
Team Bios
Clara Barclay, Administrative Assistant
Clara comes to Clover with experience as a researcher at a public policy consulting firm. She is excited to be applying these skills to helping nonprofits find their next leaders and supporting the Clover team. In her role as Administrative Assistant, she provides research and outreach support for searches.
An Illinois native, Clara most recently traded Washington, DC, for Seattle. She holds a BA in history from Reed College.
Suman (Sumi) Bhat-Kincaid, Search Consultant
Suman "Sumi" Bhat-Kincaid is an accomplished fundraiser with specialties in corporate and foundation partnerships, relationship management, fundraising, and strategic planning. Her most recent role was as the Director of Philanthropy at Upaya Social Ventures, a global nonprofit organization focused on lifting people out of extreme poverty through sustainable job creation. Sumi’s prior roles include Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer at Bloodworks Northwest, where she gained institutional support for blood research, blood banking and transfusion services in the Pacific Northwest, and SightLife, a global health organization focused on restoring sight to the blind. Sumi was the Manager of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships, supporting SightLife’s programs in India, China, Nepal and Ethiopia. Before joining the nonprofit sector, she specialized in customer care, logistics and planning in the transportation industry, where she established customer care systems and built customer service departments from the ground up.
Sumi moved into consulting work in 2022. In addition to her work with Clover, she provides fundraising support as a consultant to nonprofit organizations. Sumi holds a BS in International Management from Butler University and an MPA from the University of Washington.
Yohanna Briscoe, Search Consultant
Yohanna has over 15 years of leadership experience and has worked with a variety of nonprofits in the United States and internationally. Most recently she was Managing Director for a global campaigning organization leading a 50 person team through major organizational change and transformation. One of her key contributions was rebuilding the recruitment and onboarding processes to be more equitable and structured. She has also worked at a Seattle based organization focused on workers rights as Program Director and prior to that she worked in New York City with an international children’s literacy organization focused on experiential learning. There she piloted a digital literacy program for families and led operations, people operations, board relations, fundraising events and key relationships.
Yohanna loves innovating and collaboratively problem solving for meaningful impact. She believes deeply in building communities rooted in anti-oppression, dignity and belonging - with a healthy dose of humor and joy - and is passionate about social and environmental justice. She has expertise in change management and organizational transformation, strategy and planning, people leadership, learning and development, conflict transformation, and labor relations. In each of her roles, one of her favorite activities has been coaching and mentoring emerging leaders.
Yohanna holds a B.A. in Black Studies from Amherst College and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Imperial College Business School in London.
Sarah Cody Roth, Search Consultant
Sarah Cody Roth is an experienced nonprofit leader, and has worked with numerous organizations as a Director of Development, Deputy Director, Executive Director, Board member, donor, and volunteer. Most recently, Sarah served as the Executive Director of WestSide Baby in Seattle, where she helped lead the organization for over seven years to achieve more than 250% in revenue growth, create new public revenue streams, establish an advocacy program to pass historic anti-poverty legislation, and expand services by more than 70%. Through this breadth of experience, she has developed a deep understanding of leadership, management and governance to advance mission-driven work and impact.
Sarah has led nonprofits through crisis, leadership transition, capacity building, culture change, significant revenue growth, board development and strategic planning to achieve greater impact and more equitable outcomes. She knows how to facilitate diverse groups of staff, board and community stakeholders through complex challenges and opportunities to find clarity, alignment and a meaningful path forward toward their vision. She has worked with several organizations in Washington, D.C. and the Pacific Northwest focused on leadership development, policy, advocacy, and human services.
Sarah holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, and a B.A. in Political Science from Portland State University.
Mary Ellen Cunningham, Co-Founder and Search Consultant
Through her work in nonprofit management, community development, fundraising, and education, Mary Ellen has developed a keen understanding of how teams work, what it entails to achieve truly mission-driven work, and the importance of partnership as the foundation for almost anything worth doing.
Over the past 20+ years, Mary Ellen has worked with numerous nonprofits, both domestically and internationally, as a founder, executive director, program developer, board member, volunteer, donor and consultant. She has seen how nonprofits function, grow, stall, strategize, and achieve impact from a multitude of lenses, giving breadth and depth to her skills to support organizations to be strategic, inclusive, fueled by mission and highly effective.
Mary Ellen holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Experiential Education from the University of New Hampshire.
Julie Edsforth, Co-Founder and Search Consultant
Julie brings three decades of experience to her executive search and transition work. Her career began in the high-tech industry as a recruiter for Microsoft, followed by a career shift into social work and an eleven-year tenure as the Executive Director of Powerful Voices, a nonprofit she co-founded in 1995. Julie’s experience spans strategic planning, capacity building, board governance, and fundraising, which greatly informs her understanding and approach to executive search, leadership transitions, and organizational change. She finds the process of connecting talented individuals with purpose-driven organizations to be incredibly rewarding and inspiring, recognizing the direct impact these connections have on a nonprofit's ability to deliver on its mission.
Since 2008, Julie has worked as a non-profit consultant, leveraging her skills and experience to support the growth and success of nonprofit organizations. She is a graduate of Whitman College and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington.
Duong Le, Graphic Designer
Duong Le is an award-winning graphic designer currently serving as Art Director at DNA Seattle. She uses graphic design to help brands solve problems, communicate ideas, and inspire customers to connect with brands. She has worked with many companies including global advertising agencies, start-ups, and non-profit organizations. She has experience in designing marketing materials, brand identity systems, illustrations, and social content. She also designs websites, creates short animations, takes photos, and films and edits videos. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Advertising at Savannah College of Art and Design and a B.A. in Communications and B.A. in Business Management from Clark University. José Leonor, Search Consultant
José Leonor comes to Seattle from Northwest Arkansas, where he founded Thaden School, a 6-12 independent school. Most recently he served as Middle School Director at The Bush School. He has previously served as a teacher, coach, advisor, and facilitator at non-profit independent schools in San Diego and New York. In addition to his work with students, José has most enjoyed recruiting, developing, and leading educators and school leaders in serving their communities and fulfilling their educational missions. In his free time, José supports the Jets, Yankees, and Knicks, loves watching films, and travels around the country by road, enjoying this nation's hidden gems. He and his wife enjoy two wonderful rambunctious ‘doodles, Carlton and Nora.
Originally from Harlem, New York City, José graduated from Princeton University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and a Master’s in Organization and Leadership in Education from Klingenstein Center at Teachers College Columbia University.
Eva McMullen, Search Logistics and Business Manager
In her decade-long career in fundraising and development, Eva has worked in every aspect of non-profit operations. From her time in higher-education development, to running the fundraising arm of a small non-profit, Eva has seen what it takes for non-profits to succeed. In addition to working directly with clients and candidates on searches, as Business Operations Manager, Eva focuses on providing logistical and operational support to help Clover meet the growing needs of its clients and community.
Eva hails from San Francisco and made her way to Seattle via Baltimore and Denver. She holds a BA in Cognitive Science from the Johns Hopkins University.
